Lilypads & Mucha

I am obsessed with naturally-sourced pearls, their endless subtle permutations & stylings from champagne to vivid pink to steel grey, from baroque to seed to Keshi - that which is of the earth & the sea being always beautiful. Add in the Art Nouveau era of jewelry making, wherein Life & flowers in particular were celebrated from birth to death and all the phases inbetween... like the Japanese wabi-sabi, imperfection is where the magic is.
Fascinating fact: the most beautiful pearls are the ones with the best-lived lives...the nacre, which is the gleaming lovely aspect of the pearl, will only develop fully if the oysters are humanely raised and undisturbed in the pearl-birthing process. I love that.
It applies to food, humans, & all growing things...
